Introducing Slide

1.04.05 @ 3:17 pm

I wanted to make an official post for the photoviewer I’ve been working on which I’m calling Slide.

Slide is an XML-driven Flash slideshow that is in its pre-release stage. It’s been designed to pair nicely with the blog-like structure or other date-based online archives. All photo information is contained in an XML datasheet and instances of Slide query the XML for specific dates. Further additions such as photos by week, month, category, etc. will be added in the future. For now, it’s a solid, flexible & lightweight photo viewer that works like a champ.

I’m looking to get some web application developers to help port Slide to Gallery and possibly create a plugin for Movable Type. If anyone is interested, drop me a line: somerandomdude-AT-somerandomdude.net.

    Nice flash :)

Idea: once the first image is loaded, display it. Then put the preloader for the other images on the “hover” for the “next” button. Naturally, you only need to show the preloader if the next image isn’t loaded, so theoretically if the user takes longer to look at the picture than for one image to download, they should never see the preloader for longer than it takes to download the first image :)
